Glenouther Wind Farm Planning Application Submitted

Wind Power North 4 Ltd a wholly owned subsidiary of Vestas Development A/S has submitted an application to East Ayrshire Council for Glenouther Wind Farm.  The application is made through a development agreement between Force 9 Energy Ltd and Vestas.  The proposed development is located on Glenouther Moor, approximately 4.5 kilometres (km) north-east of Stewarton within the council administrative area. The Proposed Development will comprise up to five wind turbines each with a maximum blade tip height of up to 200 metres (m) and an indicative combined site output capacity of 36 MW. 

The submission follows a period of pre-application consultation, where valuable feedback was gathered from the local community. A full summary of consultation activity can be found in the Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Report, which accompanies the formal planning application. 

The application is supported by a comprehensive suite of environmental and technical assessments, which have informed the design of the project. It also reflects the feedback received through our programme of community consultation, which has helped shape the proposal submitted for determination. 

If consented, Glenouther Wind Farm will bring a payment of community benefit, of around £5.4 million over its lifetime. This funding will be available, from the commencement of operation of the wind farm, to support local community projects in the region. This funding will directly support local projects and initiatives, creating a lasting positive impact for surrounding communities 

The formal planning application and its accompanying Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report can be viewed online via the East Ayrshire Council website. The EIA and application documentation will also be available on the project website. A paper copy of the EIA Report is also available to view at the Council offices, London Road, Kilmarnock, KA3 7BU, and at Stewarton Library, 17 Avenue Street, Stewarton, Kilmarnock, KA3 5AP. 

Members of the public now have the opportunity to review the submitted application documents and submit representations as part of the statutory planning process.
